Learn how to introduce the game of tennis to wheelchair players. It includes understanding wheelchair equipment, singles and doubles, developing movement skills and techniques for wheelchair players. Only Certified Coaches get credit for the course, however, non-certified people are welcome to participate.

A new strategic plan has been developed for 2008-2012 with six key strategic areas identified to represent the pillars of the plan as follows:

  • Performance Environment
  • Advocacy, Governance, & Resource Development
  • Performance Enhancement: Competition & Training
  • Community Development & Awareness
  • Talent Recruitment & Development

    Coaching Development & Awareness

     The top priorities for the plan are as to:

     1. Develop and implement the wheelchair tennis athlete pathway and first four stages of the LTAD (Awareness, First Contact, Developing, Consolidating)

    2. Establish and implement the 2012 London Paralympic Games plan for targeted athletes to include training, competition, and sport science

    3. Maintain and enhance the National Program through individualized athlete touring opportunities, coaching services and travel grants.

    4. Increase wheelchair tennis coaching development & competencies for all coaches

    5. Identify and target a number of funding sources/programs to support wheelchair tennis programs

    6. Advocate on behalf of wheelchair tennis at national/international forums
